Milestone: Second week of Fall 2013 already done

by Megan Taylor on August 30, 2013

It was summer, and then I blinked, and now the second week of fall semester is behind me. Yikes.

My two classes this semester are awesome!

Thing 1: They are both cross-listed with undergraduate courses, which means the pace of the classes is a little slower and there’s not as much homework (compared to my classes up until now), which is kind of a nice break.

Thing 2: Both of the teachers are amazing. My Tax Planning teacher is Sarah Knight, whose tax class Robert Hockenbury (my Managerial Accounting teacher in the Spring) suggested I take. She’s lived up to the recommendation and then some. She said we’re going to spend a whole class talking about Al Capone. [rubs hands together gleefully] I’m so excited!

My Advanced Financial teacher is Robert Hockenbury, who, as just mentioned, was my Managerial Accounting teacher in the spring, and who is great. image

One of my favorite moments from the first week was when Robert told us that “Advanced Financial Accounting” is a bad name for the class, because the name makes it sound more difficult than Intermediate Financial Accounting, which is the hardest class I have ever taken ever. Robert says a more apt name would be “Miscellaneous Accounting.” The class builds on the concepts from Intermediate, but it’s just a catch all for things that weren’t covered in as much depth in that class.

More updates as I have time. Thanks for reading.
