Update: Purchased Becker

by Megan Taylor on May 28, 2015

Time was running out on my 50% scholarship for Becker (I had until 5/31 to register), so I called them yesterday and signed up for the review course. I signed up for the self-study course, which means I get books as well as online access. There are flashcards and the like that I can purchase too, if I want them, but I opted not to buy them at this point, since sitting for the exam is still almost six months out.

I was eligible for 0% financing, which was nice, so the price tag of $1,939.16 (including tax) is broken into 18 payments of $111.56. That’s not too bad, all things considered. It certainly beats paying the entire cost upfront.

When I was on the phone, I also confirmed that I would have access to the website until the end of 2016, which is when I will be done with all four sections of the exam. The woman I spoke with informed me that I have access to the website for twenty-four months from the date I purchase the review course, or eighteen months of access from the date I agree to the EULA, which ever is shorter.

For example, if I were to wait seven months to agree to the EULA and start using the website, I would only have seventeen months of access.

Fortunately, I plan to start studying in September, which is only three-ish months from now, so I’m all set. But it means that under no circumstances do I want to agree to the EULA before July 1, or my eighteen months of access won’t last until the end of 2016.

Now I just have to apply to sit for the CPA exam in October or November, and I’ll be in good shape.
